Honey Butter Crispy Chicken
Ingredients
Chicken
- 2–3 chicken breasts or thighs (cut into strips or chunks)
- Salt & pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
Coating
- 1 cup flour
- ½ cup cornstarch (key for crispiness)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup cold water or milk
For frying
- Vegetable or canola oil
Honey Butter Sauce
- ¼ cup butter
- ¼ cup honey
- 1–2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp soy sauce (optional, adds depth)
Instructions
- Season chicken
Toss chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. - Make batter
Mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and cold water/milk until smooth (slightly runny). - Coat chicken
Dip chicken pieces into the batter, letting excess drip off. - Fry
Heat oil to 350°F / 175°C.
Fry chicken in batches for 4–6 minutes, until golden and crispy.
Drain on paper towels. - Make honey butter sauce
Melt butter in a pan on low heat.
Stir in honey, brown sugar, and soy sauce. Simmer 1–2 minutes. - Combine
Toss fried chicken in the warm honey butter sauce or drizzle it on top.
Tips for Extra Crispiness
- Use cold batter
- Don’t overcrowd the pan
- Double-fry for 1–2 minutes if you want ultra crunch
