Instructions
- Prep
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line a jelly roll pan with parchment and lightly grease.
- Make the cake
- Whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Beat eggs and sugar until thick and pale.
- Mix in vanilla.
- Gently fold in dry ingredients.
- Spread batter evenly in the pan.
- Bake
- Bake 10–12 minutes, until cake springs back when touched.
- Roll while warm
- Dust a clean kitchen towel with powdered sugar.
- Turn cake onto towel, peel parchment off.
- Roll cake (with towel) from short end.
- Let cool completely.
- Make filling
- Whip cream and powdered sugar until fluffy.
- Fill
- Carefully unroll cake.
- Spread whipped cream evenly.
- Drizzle caramel sauce.
- Sprinkle pecans and chocolate chips.
- Roll cake back up gently.
- Decorate
