Double Chocolate Coca-Cola Cake

Posted on January 5, 2026 by Admin

Ah, the Double Chocolate Coca-Cola Cake—a rich, fudgy chocolate cake made moist and slightly tangy with a splash of Coke. Perfect for chocolate lovers! 🍫🥤

Ingredients

For the Cake:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup butter (2 sticks)
  • 1 cup Coca-Cola (not diet)
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Chocolate Frosting (Optional):

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 6 tbsp Coca-Cola
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Preheat and prep pans

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.

2. Make the cake batter

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a saucepan, combine butter and Coca-Cola. Heat until butter melts. Remove from heat.
  • Stir in buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Add dry ingredients gradually, mixing until combined.

3. Bake

  • Pour batter into prepared pan.
  • Bake 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let cool while preparing frosting (if using).

4. Make the frosting

  • In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
  • Stir in cocoa powder and Coca-Cola. Bring to a boil for 1–2 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth.
  • Pour over warm cake and spread evenly.

5. Serve

  • Let frosting set slightly before slicing.
  • Delicious with a glass of milk or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

💡 Tips

  • Coke adds moisture and a subtle tang—don’t skip it!
  • You can add chocolate chips to the batter for extra chocolatey goodness.
  • Frost while the cake is still slightly warm so it seeps into the cake for maximum gooeyness.

I can also give a mini cupcake version of this cake if you want individual servings instead of a big sheet cake.

Do you want me to do that?
