Pepper Steak
Ingredients
- 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 bell peppers (any color), sliced
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- ½ cup beef broth or water
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1–2 teaspoons black pepper
- 2 tablespoons oil for cooking
Instructions
- Prep beef
- Toss beef slices with 1 teaspoon cornstarch and a pinch of black pepper.
- Cook beef
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sear beef quickly until browned but not fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
- Cook vegetables
- In the same pan, sauté onions and bell peppers for 3–4 minutes until slightly softened.
- Add garlic and cook 30 seconds more.
- Make sauce
- Mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, beef broth, sugar, and remaining cornstarch.
- Pour into the pan and bring to a simmer.
- Combine
- Return beef to the pan.
- Cook 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens and beef is cooked through.
- Serve
