Here’s a quick and easy Pepper Steak recipe 🥩🫑
Tender beef with bell peppers in a savory sauce—perfect for weeknight dinners.


Pepper Steak

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 bell peppers (any color), sliced
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • ½ cup beef broth or water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1–2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Prep beef
    • Toss beef slices with 1 teaspoon cornstarch and a pinch of black pepper.
  2. Cook beef
    • Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Sear beef quickly until browned but not fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
  3. Cook vegetables
    • In the same pan, sauté onions and bell peppers for 3–4 minutes until slightly softened.
    • Add garlic and cook 30 seconds more.
  4. Make sauce
    • Mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, beef broth, sugar, and remaining cornstarch.
    • Pour into the pan and bring to a simmer.
  5. Combine
    • Return beef to the pan.
    • Cook 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens and beef is cooked through.
  6. Serve
    • Serve over steamed rice or noodles.

Tips

  • Slice beef against the grain for tenderness.
  • For extra flavor, add mushrooms or a splash of sesame oil.
  • Adjust pepper to taste—freshly cracked gives the best flavor.
