Here’s a simple guide for making a baked potato — fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside. 🥔✨


🛒 Ingredients

  • 1 large russet potato (or more, depending on servings)
  • Olive oil or butter
  • Salt
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, cheese, chives, bacon bits, butter

🥔 Instructions

1. Prep the Potato

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F / 220°C.
  2. Scrub the potato clean and pat dry.
  3. Prick the potato a few times with a fork.
  4. Rub with a little olive oil or butter and sprinkle with salt.

2. Bake

  • Place potato directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet.
  • Bake 45–60 minutes, depending on size, until skin is crispy and a fork pierces easily.

3. Serve

  • Slice open, fluff the inside with a fork, and add your favorite toppings.

🍽️ Tips

  • For extra crisp skin, bake directly on the oven rack instead of a pan.
  • Microwave shortcut: cook a large potato for 8–12 minutes (turning halfway), then finish in the oven for crispiness.
  • Sweet potatoes can be baked the same way with slightly less time.
