Here’s a simple, beginner-friendly wonton recipe you can make at home 🥟
(No fancy tools needed!)
🥟 Homemade Wontons (Makes ~30)
Ingredients
Filling
- 200 g (about 7 oz) ground chicken or pork
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp sugar (optional)
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (helps bind)
Wrappers
- 30 wonton wrappers (store-bought)
For sealing
- Small bowl of water
Instructions
1. Make the filling
In a bowl, mix all filling ingredients until well combined.
It should look sticky and smooth.
2. Fill the wontons
- Place 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of a wrapper
- Dip your finger in water and wet the edges
- Fold into a triangle, press to seal
- Bring the two bottom corners together and pinch
(Don’t overfill—this makes sealing harder.)
3. Cook the wontons (choose one)
Boiled (for soup):
- Bring water or broth to a gentle boil
- Add wontons and cook 3–4 minutes until they float
Pan-fried (crispy bottom):
- Heat oil in a pan
- Fry until golden underneath
- Add a little water, cover, and steam 2–3 minutes
Deep-fried (fully crispy):
- Fry at 170–180°C (340–355°F) until golden
Easy Wonton Soup (optional)

- Soy sauce to taste
- Add cooked wontons and green onions
