Cheesy sloppy joe garlic toast

Posted on January 31, 2026 by Admin

Ohhh yes… now we’re in comfort food overload mode—sloppy joes, gooey cheese, garlicky bread… all in one glorious bite. 😏 Here’s a full recipe for Cheesy Sloppy Joe Garlic Toast:

Cheesy Sloppy Joe Garlic Toast

Ingredients (serves 4–6)

For the sloppy joe filling:

  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce or pasta sauce
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

For the garlic toast:

  • 1 loaf French bread or Italian bread, sliced in half lengthwise
  • 3 tbsp butter, softened
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp dried parsley or Italian seasoning
  • 1–2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)

Instructions

  1. Make the sloppy joe filling:
    • In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef with onion and garlic until beef is browned.
    • Drain excess fat.
    • Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
    • Simmer 10–15 minutes until thickened.
  2. Prep garlic toast:
    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Mix softened butter, minced garlic, and parsley/seasoning. Spread evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
  3. Assemble the toast:
    • Spoon the sloppy joe mixture over the garlic buttered bread.
    • Top generously with shredded cheese.
  4. Bake:
    • Bake 10–12 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly. For extra browning, broil 1–2 minutes at the end—but watch carefully!
  5. Serve:
    • Slice into portions and serve hot. Optional: garnish with extra parsley or pickles for tang.

💡 Extra indulgence tip: Mix a little cheddar and pepper jack for melty gooeyness with a hint of spice.

If you want, I can also give a “quick skillet version” where you toast the bread in a pan with the sloppy joe on top—less oven time, same melty goodness.

Do you want me to do that version too?
