Creamy Celery and Cheese Bake

Ingredients (serves 4–6)

  • 6–8 celery stalks, chopped into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or mix with mozzarella)
  • ½ cup heavy cream or milk
  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • ½ tsp paprika or nutmeg (optional)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prep the celery:
    • Bring a pot of salted water to a boil.
    • Blanch celery pieces for 2–3 minutes, just until slightly tender. Drain and set aside.
  2. Sauté aromatics:
    • In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
    • Add onion and garlic, sauté until soft and fragrant.
  3. Combine:
    • In a bowl, mix blanched celery, sautéed onion/garlic, cheese, cream, salt, pepper, and optional paprika/nutmeg.
  4. Bake:
    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Transfer mixture to a greased baking dish, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top.
    • Bake 15–20 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.
  5. Serve:
    • Garnish with fresh parsley and enjoy as a side dish—or even a light main!
