fried bologna

Posted on January 1, 2026 by Admin

Fried bologna is a simple, classic comfort food—especially popular in the U.S. South and Midwest.

What it is

  • Thick-cut bologna slices pan-fried until the edges curl and the outside gets crispy.
  • Often eaten on a sandwich or by itself.

How to make it (basic)

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. (Optional) Cut 2–4 small slits around the edge of the bologna so it doesn’t puff up.
  3. Add the bologna (no oil needed, but a little butter is tasty).
  4. Fry 1–2 minutes per side until browned and slightly crispy.

Classic sandwich

  • Fried bologna
  • White bread (or toast)
  • American cheese
  • Yellow mustard or mayo

Popular add-ons

  • Fried egg
  • Pickles
  • Caramelized onions
  • Hot sauce
