Hamburger Potato Casserole

Here’s a classic and comforting Hamburger Potato Casserole recipe you can try. It’s hearty, cheesy, and perfect for a weeknight dinner.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 4–5 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or cheese blend)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 tsp paprika (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish.
  2. Cook the beef and onion: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with chopped onion until fully cooked. Drain excess fat. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder if using.
  3. Prepare the sauce: In a bowl, mix the condensed soup and milk until smooth.
  4. Layer the casserole:
    • Place half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the casserole dish.
    • Spread half of the cooked beef mixture over the potatoes.
    • Pour half of the soup mixture over the beef.
    • Sprinkle 1 cup of cheese.
    • Repeat the layers with remaining potatoes, beef, soup, and cheese.
  5. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 15–20 minutes until potatoes are tender and cheese is bubbly and slightly golden.
  6. Serve hot and enjoy!

💡 Tips:

  • You can add diced bell peppers or mushrooms to the beef mixture for extra flavor.
  • Swap cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken for a milder taste.
  • For a crispy top, broil for 2–3 minutes at the end.
