Zesty Avocado Toast with Lemon and Chili Flakes

Ingredients (serves 1–2):

  • 1 ripe Hass avocado
  • 2 slices of bread (sourdough, whole wheat, or your favorite)
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp lemon juice
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: red pepper flakes, cherry tomatoes, radish slices, poached egg, microgreens

Instructions

  1. Toast the bread:
    • Brush lightly with olive oil and toast until golden and crisp.
  2. Prepare the avocado:
    • Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a bowl.
    • Mash with a fork until creamy but slightly chunky.
    • Mix in lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  3. Assemble:
    • Spread the mashed avocado evenly on the toasted bread.
  4. Add toppings (optional):
    • Sprinkle red pepper flakes for heat, or layer with cherry tomatoes, radishes, or a poached egg.
    • Garnish with microgreens or fresh herbs.
  5. Serve immediately:
    • Enjoy as a healthy breakfast, snack, or light lunch.

Pro tips:

  • For extra creaminess, stir in 1–2 tbsp Greek yogurt or cream cheese.
  • Drizzle a little balsamic glaze for a sweet-savory twist.
