Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 1 can (14–15 oz / 425 g) salmon, drained and flaked (or 1 cup cooked fresh salmon, flaked)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (plus extra for coating)
  • 1/4 cup finely diced onion
  • 1/4 cup finely diced bell pepper (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning or Cajun seasoning
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for dredging)
  • 3–4 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Patties

  1. In a bowl, combine salmon, breadcrumbs, onion, bell pepper, garlic, egg, mayonnaise, mustard, Old Bay, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix gently until combined.
  3. Form mixture into 6–8 patties (about 1/2–3/4 inch thick).

2️⃣ Dredge & Coat

  • Lightly coat each patty in flour, shaking off excess.
  • Optional: Press into extra breadcrumbs for crunchier texture.

3️⃣ Fry

  1. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Fry patties 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
  3. Drain on paper towels.

4️⃣ Serve

  • Serve hot with lemon wedges, tartar sauce, or a simple remoulade.
  • Great with coleslaw, hush puppies, or mashed potatoes.

💡 Tips

  • Moist patties: Don’t overmix; salmon should hold together but remain tender.
  • Crispy coating: Chill patties 15–20 minutes before frying.
  • Season variations: Add chopped parsley, dill, or a pinch of cayenne for extra flavor.
