American goulash

Here’s a classic American Goulash recipe 🇺🇸🍝
Hearty, cheesy, and comforting—perfect for weeknight dinners.


American Goulash

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 cup beef or chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked
  • 1–1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook beef
    • In a large skillet or pot, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned.
    • Drain excess fat.
  2. Add veggies & seasonings
    • Sauté onion and garlic until soft.
    • Stir in Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Add liquids & pasta
    • Add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and broth.
    • Bring to a boil.
    • Stir in uncooked elbow macaroni.
  4. Simmer
    • Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender.
  5. Add cheese
    • Stir in shredded cheddar until melted and creamy.
  6. Serve
    • Serve hot, optionally topped with extra cheese or chopped parsley.

Tips

  • Use a mix of cheeses for extra flavor.
  • Can add bell peppers, mushrooms, or peas for veggies.
  • Leftovers taste great the next day and reheat well.
