Classic Beef Tips (Stovetop or Slow Cooker)
Ingredients
- 1½ lbs beef tips (or sirloin, chuck, or stew beef)
- 2 tbsp oil or butter
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp paprika (optional)
- 1–2 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (for thickening)
Stovetop Instructions
- Season beef with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Brown beef in oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Remove and set aside.
- Sauté onion and garlic in the same pan until soft.
- Add beef back, pour in broth and Worcestershire sauce.
- Simmer covered on low heat for 45–60 minutes until tender.
- Thicken gravy: stir in cornstarch slurry and cook 2–3 minutes.
Slow Cooker Option
- Add everything (except cornstarch) to the slow cooker.
- Cook 6–8 hours on low or 3–4 hours on high.
- Thicken gravy at the end if needed.
