Here’s a simple, tender beef tips recipe that’s hearty and easy to make 🥩

Classic Beef Tips (Stovetop or Slow Cooker)

Ingredients

  • 1½ lbs beef tips (or sirloin, chuck, or stew beef)
  • 2 tbsp oil or butter
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika (optional)
  • 1–2 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (for thickening)

Stovetop Instructions

  1. Season beef with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  2. Brown beef in oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Remove and set aside.
  3. Sauté onion and garlic in the same pan until soft.
  4. Add beef back, pour in broth and Worcestershire sauce.
  5. Simmer covered on low heat for 45–60 minutes until tender.
  6. Thicken gravy: stir in cornstarch slurry and cook 2–3 minutes.

Slow Cooker Option

  • Add everything (except cornstarch) to the slow cooker.
  • Cook 6–8 hours on low or 3–4 hours on high.
  • Thicken gravy at the end if needed.

Serving Ideas

  • Over mashed potatoes
  • With rice or egg noodles
  • Alongside green beans or carrots
