Creamy garlic butter chicken & linguine in alfredo sauce

Posted on January 25, 2026 by Admin

Oh yes… now we’re talking ultimate comfort food vibes 😋🍝🐔. Creamy garlic butter chicken with linguine in Alfredo sauce is rich, indulgent, and surprisingly simple to make at home. Here’s a step-by-step recipe:

Ingredients (serves 4)

For the Chicken:

  • 2 large chicken breasts (or 3 small), sliced into strips or cubes
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2–3 garlic cloves, minced
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning (optional)

For the Alfredo Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3–4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Pinch of nutmeg (optional, classic touch)

For the Pasta:

  • 300–350g linguine or fettuccine
  • Salt for the pasta water

Optional Garnishes:

  • Chopped parsley
  • Extra Parmesan

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta:
    • Boil linguine in salted water according to package instructions. Drain and set aside, reserving a little pasta water.
  2. Cook the chicken:
    • In a large skillet, melt 2 tbsp butter over medium heat.
    • Add chicken, season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook until golden and fully cooked (~6–8 min depending on thickness). Remove from pan and set aside.
  3. Make the Alfredo sauce:
    • In the same skillet, melt 2 tbsp butter.
    • Add garlic and sauté for 30–60 seconds until fragrant (don’t burn!).
    • Stir in heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.
    • Gradually whisk in Parmesan until smooth and creamy.
    • Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg.
    • If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of reserved pasta water to loosen it.
  4. Combine:
    • Add the cooked chicken and drained pasta to the sauce. Toss to coat evenly.
    • Heat gently for 1–2 minutes until everything is hot and well combined.
  5. Serve:
    • Plate the pasta, sprinkle with chopped parsley and extra Parmesan.
    • Optional: drizzle a little garlic butter over the top for extra indulgence.

💡 Tips:

  • For an extra creamy sauce, add a splash of cream cheese or mascarpone.
  • You can toss in sautéed mushrooms, spinach, or sun-dried tomatoes for a veggie boost.
  • Make sure the chicken isn’t overcooked—tender, juicy bites make all the difference.

If you want, I can also give you a one-pan version that minimizes washing up and cooks the chicken and sauce together with the pasta—super quick and still decadent.

Do you want me to do that?
