French Yogurt Cake

Here’s a classic French Yogurt Cake recipe 🍰
Moist, tender, and super easy—perfect for beginners.


French Yogurt Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain yogurt (preferably whole milk yogurt)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Zest of 1 lemon or orange (optional)
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Prep
    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Grease and flour a 9-inch round or loaf pan.
  2. Mix wet ingredients
    • In a bowl, whisk yogurt, sugar, eggs, oil, and vanilla (and zest if using) until smooth.
  3. Add dry ingredients
    • In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
    • Gently fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients until combined.
  4. Bake
    • Pour batter into pan.
    • Bake 35–45 minutes (loaf may take slightly longer), until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Cool
    • Let cool 10 minutes in pan, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack.

Tips

  • For extra flavor, brush top with a little lemon or orange glaze after baking.
  • Can add fresh berries or chocolate chips to the batter.
  • The cake is naturally light and moist because of the yogurt.
