Fried shrimp

Here’s a classic crispy fried shrimp recipe 🍤
Simple, crunchy, and perfect for beginners.


🍤 Crispy Fried Shrimp (Serves 3–4)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled & deveined (tails on or off)
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Breading

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornmeal or breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)

Wet dip

  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 tbsp milk or water

Instructions

  1. Prep shrimp
    • Pat shrimp dry with paper towels.
  2. Set up breading
    • Bowl 1: flour + seasonings
    • Bowl 2: eggs + milk
    • Bowl 3: cornmeal or breadcrumbs
  3. Bread shrimp
    • Coat shrimp in flour
    • Dip in egg
    • Coat in cornmeal/breadcrumbs
  4. Fry
    • Heat oil to 350°F (175°C)
    • Fry shrimp in batches 2–3 minutes, until golden and crispy
    • Drain on paper towels

🧂 Tips

  • Don’t overcrowd the pan
  • Oil too cool = greasy shrimp
  • Serve immediately for best crunch

🍋 Serving Ideas

  • Lemon wedges
  • Cocktail sauce
  • Tartar sauce
  • Coleslaw or fries

Variations

  • Spicy: Add cayenne or chili powder
  • Extra crunchy: Double-dip in egg and crumbs
  • No fry: Air-fry at 400°F for 8–10 minutes
