KFC biscuits 😍🍞—soft, flaky, buttery, and slightly salty-sweet. Here’s a copycat-style recipe that gets very close to the real thing.


Copycat KFC Biscuits (Soft & Flaky)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ⅓ cup cold butter (cut into small cubes)
  • ¾ cup cold buttermilk
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt.
  3. Cut in butter: Use a fork or your fingers to work the cold butter into the flour until it looks crumbly (pea-sized bits).
  4. Add buttermilk: Stir just until dough comes together. Don’t overmix!
  5. Fold for layers: Turn dough onto a floured surface. Gently pat into a rectangle, fold in half, rotate, and repeat 2–3 times.
  6. Cut biscuits: Pat dough to about ¾-inch thick. Cut using a biscuit cutter or glass.
  7. Bake: Place biscuits close together on the baking sheet and bake 12–15 minutes until golden.
  8. Butter finish: Brush hot biscuits with melted butter right out of the oven.

KFC-Style Tips

  • Cold ingredients = flaky biscuits
  • Don’t twist the cutter—press straight down for taller biscuits
  • Baking them touching helps them rise higher and stay soft
  • Brush with butter twice if you want extra richness 😄
