Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients
- 2 lb potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet)
- Salt (for water and seasoning)
- 4 tablespoons butter
- Β½βΒΎ cup milk (or cream for extra rich)
- Black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prep potatoes
- Peel (optional) and cut into even chunks.
- Boil
- Place potatoes in a pot, cover with cold salted water.
- Bring to a boil, then simmer 15β20 minutes until fork-tender.
- Drain
- Drain well and return potatoes to the hot pot.
- Let steam dry for 1β2 minutes.
- Mash
- Add butter and mash.
- Slowly add warm milk until creamy.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Serve
- Serve hot with extra butter on top.
