🥔 Creamy Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

  • 2 lbs (900 g) potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet)
  • 1/2 cup (115 g) butter
  • 1/2–3/4 cup milk or cream
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Optional: 2 cloves garlic (for roasted or boiled garlic flavor)

Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Potatoes

  1. Peel potatoes and cut into evenly sized chunks.
  2. Place in a large pot and cover with cold, salted water.

2️⃣ Boil

  • Bring to a boil and cook 15–20 minutes until tender when pierced with a fork.

3️⃣ Drain & Mash

  • Drain completely and return to the pot.
  • Mash with a potato masher or ricer until smooth.

4️⃣ Add Butter & Milk

  • Stir in butter until melted.
  • Gradually add warm milk or cream to reach desired creaminess.
  • Season with salt and pepper.

5️⃣ Serve

  • Serve immediately, optionally with a pat of butter on top.

  • Extra creamy: Use half-and-half or heavy cream instead of milk.
  • Garlic flavor: Boil or roast garlic with the potatoes and mash it in.
