Here’s a delicious recipe for Pork Steaks in Creamy Mushroom Sauce — tender pork steaks in a rich, savory sauce that’s perfect over mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta. 🍖🍄


🛒 Ingredients (Serves 2–4)

  • 2–4 pork steaks (boneless or bone-in)
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 8 oz (225 g) mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried thyme or 1 tbsp fresh thyme
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for lighter sauce)
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1–2 tsp flour (optional, for thickening)

🍳 Instructions

1. Cook the Pork Steaks

  1. Season pork steaks with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Sear pork 4–5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through (internal temp ~145°F / 63°C).
  4. Remove pork from skillet and set aside.

2. Make the Mushroom Sauce

  1. In the same skillet, add mushrooms and cook 5 minutes until browned.
  2. Add onion and garlic, sauté 2–3 minutes until softened.
  3. Sprinkle flour over the vegetables (if using) and stir to coat — this helps thicken the sauce.
  4. Pour in chicken broth, cream, and mustard. Stir and simmer 3–5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Add thyme, salt, and pepper to taste.

3. Combine & Serve

  • Return pork steaks to the skillet and spoon sauce over them.
  • Simmer 2–3 minutes to let flavors meld.
  • Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta.

🍽️ Tips

  • For extra richness, finish the sauce with a small knob of butter.
  • White wine can replace part of the broth for more depth of flavor.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley for color and freshness.
