Classic Pound Cake Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prep
- Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Grease and flour a loaf pan.
- Cream butter & sugar
- Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 3–4 minutes).
- Add eggs
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
- Mix dry ingredients
- In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Combine
- Slowly mix dry ingredients into the batter.
- Stir in vanilla.
- Bake
- Pour batter into the pan.
- Bake 60–70 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool
- Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove and cool completely.
Optional Add-Ins
- 🍋 Lemon zest + a little lemon juice
- 🍫 Chocolate chips
- 🍓 Fresh berries (lightly coated in flour)
