Pound cake

Here’s a simple, classic pound cake recipe 🍰
Rich, buttery, and great on its own or with fruit.


Classic Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prep
    • Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
    • Grease and flour a loaf or bundt pan.
  2. Cream butter & sugar
    • Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (3–4 minutes).
  3. Add eggs
    • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
  4. Mix dry ingredients
    • In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Combine
    • Gradually mix dry ingredients into the batter.
    • Stir in vanilla.
  6. Bake
    • Pour batter into pan.
    • Bake 60–70 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool
    • Let cool 10 minutes in pan, then remove and cool completely.

Optional Variations

  • 🍋 Lemon pound cake: Add lemon zest + 1–2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 🍫 Chocolate chip: Fold in ¾ cup chocolate chips
  • 🍓 Berry: Gently fold in floured berries
