Classic Pound Cake
Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 large eggs (room temperature)
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prep
- Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Grease and flour a loaf or bundt pan.
- Cream butter & sugar
- Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (3–4 minutes).
- Add eggs
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
- Mix dry ingredients
- In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Combine
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into the batter.
- Stir in vanilla.
- Bake
- Pour batter into pan.
- Bake 60–70 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool
- Let cool 10 minutes in pan, then remove and cool completely.
Optional Variations
- 🍋 Lemon pound cake: Add lemon zest + 1–2 tbsp lemon juice
- 🍫 Chocolate chip: Fold in ¾ cup chocolate chips
- 🍓 Berry: Gently fold in floured berries
